try trimming a little more mesh off the sides.

I would tryand trim down a little, and if that does not work then redo it.

Small scissors worked good for me. I would snip off any mesh that comes near the ceramic shaft. Just a little trim around the outer perimeter and you should be all set.

How many layers are on there?

Sorry guys, but i wasnt getting email updates. I have trimmed the edges BUT, i think it a problem with the pump as well. My guess is that the pump is about 2 years old and this is the first time its been unplugged in a while.

This morning, however, i thought id give it another try. What i did was stick my finger in the outlet and nudge the impellor a bit which seemed to work but was not consistent at all. After unplugging, i would have to do it again. I have the setup running in some vinegar, hoping it will loosen up whatevers been making the pump stick. Whats the average life on the Sedras? BTW, i have 3 layers, but after all the trimming, tugging, etc. i imagine its closer to 2-2.5.
