Heniochus diphraetus are really common fish in the wild and I see them show up with a good bit of frequency in the trade, though not as often as the H. Acuminatus. I see them a lot, but they are only marked as Heniochus so if I was looking for one I would jsut scout the shops.

both species look pretty much identical. It is very very difficult to tell the difference unless they are full grown (which usually arent collected)

To get a true diphraetus it should come from Hawaii. The only heniochis found in hawaii is diphraertus so it is 100% guarenteed. However, when they hit the wholesalers in La they are lumped in with the all the rest so they will get lost in the mix. Have your LFS order direct from Hawaii if possible.
