Does anybody know if a Mag Drive 18 pump needs a true sine inverter, or will a modified sine wave work?

im not sure, I havent tried the mag drive pumps but in general its a good idea for a load like a pump to use a true sin wave ups or converter.

either will be fine. they are AC motors so no need for a true sine wave.

it'll be a little louder without the true sine inverter but works. I have one so if the power goes out, I start up my $30,000 3.5 liter generator to power my tank.

modified sine will work fine.

By the way, a modified sine at 60 hz will NOT power the mag 18. It just rattles and never starts. However, it will run a pair of tunze 6100s.
