Skimmer Question

Do any of you keep the sponge on the outlet of your in-sump skimmer. Will this become a nitrate factory? If you took it off does it create micro bubbles in the tank?

Yes, it helps reduce microbubbles. Yes, it will eventually be colonized by bacteria which produce nitrate. Just rinse it once a week in fresh water and you'll be fine. Like rinsing filter socks.
