I am just wondering if I assembled it correctly?

PERFECT! You can actually install it in any direction that best fits your application. I have mine without the T and my elbow just faces down into the sump with the gate valve handle just above the pump facing to the left. The way you have it installed is the way I believe RG intended.

I would try to turn it around so your exhaust isn't that close to the pump intake

There was a wingnut that came with it that I have no idea where it goes?

Hi Jason,
The wing nut is used to raise and lower the outlet assembly, but with the new gate valve adapter you don't need it.
