I am trying to decide on which color for my backround. I think they both look cool, but I think I am leaning towards black.

Which color do you prefer?

I have blue, but I regret not getting black. I would not get blue again. Coral colors look better against a black background in my opinion. Some of the blue and purple colors get lost against my blue background.

Black . Several times I've used auto engine block spray. It's thicker . But in the end the entire back wall is purple coralline algae anyway .

Black brings out the colors of your corals in my opinion.

Before you buy the background, you can buy a blue poster board and a black one (cheap ones from walmart). You can test both, and see which one you prefer.

I say Black, but i have seen blue that looks nice, i think blue is harder to pull off though (as in making it look good).

We're a lot of help, aren't we! I have black but want to try blue after seeing a lot of the blue background tanks. Especially aquabuckets!

Black, I've had both and black definitely better for making your coral and fish stand out.

You guys are making it tough, haha.

I think I am going to go with black, concidering my overflow is black as well as powerheads, everything will blend a little better.
If it isn't to much trouble, those with black backrounds could you please post a full tank shot?

Black! I waffled for a while then decided on black, I have blue on a FW tank. I just rolled on black rustoleum outdoor paint. After about 3 coats it was good to go.

Exactly what Saltpeter said, I had black but within a couple months it was all purple anyway.

Here's what mine looks like with the black background. I haven't added anything as far as corals go yet. I suppose now that it's a year old I could probably add somethings now.:D But you get the idea. Keep in mind that mine is just window tint from the home improvement store. I left the white paper on the back so you couldn't see through it.

We have had blue for close to a year. Just had to move the tank to another room so we decided to try black since we had the tank out, what a difference. Just bought a 90, that will definitely be black!

I think the trend these days, if you look at allot of the tank pics, is back towards blue.

If done right, it makes the rockwork look real nice.

That said, I don't have a background.

I had black background as long as I've been in this hobby but decide to go with blue on my most recent set-up. I love it! IMO blue background pictures look better. JMO though. But does it really matter when it will be covered in coralline anyway in a year unless you scrap it off, which I plan to do, WHEN it does start growing in my tank.
