I have a question that maybe I should know. I am going to make some changes to my sump and would like to get rid of my float valve which is connected to my RO system. I need to plug the ½ inch hole when I remove the float valve. I have a white poly sump and what is the best method of plugging holes. Can I simply use silicone and a piece of poly 1inch by 1 inch and glue it over the hole??

Thanks for your reply.

I'd recommend getting a threaded bulkhead and a PVC plug. That will be the safest approach and give you the option of using the opening for something else later.

You can't be sure that silicone will hold to the poly without leaking. One of the Weld On cements might work better.
