Okay, I give up! I want to buy a sump already made for my 75. I live in Northern, VA. Anyone know of anyone local who makes them? Shipping if I have to is fine also.

Thanks!

Don't give up so soon, NanoGurl! :( Get in touch with your local reef club and see if someone can help you through it. :)

Good idea, thanks!

I think we figured it out enough to make it work, but I'm thinking that a custom sump would allow me to get a bigger one. I can't fit a 48" tank insid, but I could a 45" custom or so.

Just make one!

I just glued the last seam on the one my BF and I have made this morning. It really wasn't that tough and cost about $125 total, but we already had the router/table saw we needed. Some places will cut the acrylic for you too.

The edges on ours still needs to be routed down so they are even, but other than that it looks pretty good.

He will custom make one for you...and all you have to do is glue it together...just ask for a couple of extra baffles...good luck.

NanoGurl, I just used a 30g long under my 75g reef.
I cut some baffles and 2 dividers out of acrylic that I got from HomeDepot.
I silicone them into place and it works great!

Hope this helps!

Those are some more ideas there. Trpigg, I looked at those sumps too, but figured it would be more fun to do it all.

Thanks. I have a 29g that we are going to use I guess since we already have it. I can't cut the stuff so I called a glass shop and it was like $40 to get 4 pieces i would need. The bigger problem was trying to figure out the design and size of everything. Very confusing!

I bought one of that guys kits also. It was a 30 refuge/sump. Wasn't too difficult to figure out how to put together.

Jeff Bean from the Chesapeake Marine Aquaria Society just made me one for my 65 gal. He is located in Sparrows point Maryland, just outside Baltimore.

Thanks everyone. I went ahead and am making one for myself for now, but I will probably have someone build me a nicer one for my larger tank. Will post photos on my thread wish me luck!

Good luck! Can't wait to see it when you get done! I didn't think I'd be able to do it, but it really wasn't all that hard! Measure pieces, cut pieces, sand edges, glue pieces, and voila! :)
