Hi Randy,
I was wondering what your thoughts are on using Chemi Pure. They now have a Chemi Pure Elite that supposedly also removes phosphates and other related stuff.

I've used the regular ones and think they help, but am not overly sure.

What is your opinion on this product now that it's been out for a while?

Randy is not answering questions in this forum at this time.

I have never used the stuff. Maybe one of our other members has and will chime in. :)

I don't know what Randy's response would be today but way back on February 26, 2007 he posted this comment: "I would not use chemi pure." Here (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=9339106&highlight=Chemi+Pure#post9339106).

I found a post from 2004 where he said he didn't use it, and wasn't sure how well they were going to stand up to their claims.

That's why I was hoping to hear a more recent reply, but from your thread you showed he still feels the same in 2007.

What happened to Randy?

Its a OK carbon IMO, but better ones out there. I perfer to reuse mesh socks. No sense of throwing away those guys as what ChemiPure users do.

I personally use Hydrocarbon2 in a reusable filter mesh bag.

I use Seachems Matrix carbon. Comes highly recommended. :)
