Hi there,
I know fish can tolerate a certain amount of Nitrates but what is the ideal reading and what is considered too much.
I have been having trouble finding the answer to this and need it for a report Im doing for a course. I have never had a real problem with nitrates and so have never looked into the actual ideal reading or what is considered too much before.

Thanks in advance :)

in most applications where you don't go to drastic measures to fight against NO3 you'll have between 5-10ppm

on the other hand i've seen neglected systems that have never seen a water change and the owner overfeeds regularly and NO3 levels were in excess of 200ppm.
