when I bought it 3 weeks ago, it looked like leather, the way its supposed to be. the past 2 days, its not smooth anymore, but it seems "pimply? don't know how else to describe it.... its like hair, but only about 3 mm long. otherwise it seems fine, even seems to have grown. Are these like feeding tentacles or something. Sorry I can't post a pic

Sounds like those are the polyps coming out. That is what you want to see. Do you know what kind of leather it is?

I don't know what kinda leather. its brown, looks like a toadstool. it does look like poyps coming out, i dind't know leather corals had polyps like that. so its normal? like I said, it otherwise looks fine, its expanded. I checked my water yesterday, all is perfect (almost, trates are at 5 ppm, ph is at 8.4)

Yes, toadstools have polyps. Does it look like this?

Good, they are both toadstools then. The polyp extension is normal and definitely what you want to see. :)
