What is your return flow rate?

I get micro bubbles when my return rate is too high.

I also had this problem early on before the skimmer broke in. Is this a new set up?

What brand skimmer is it? Did you just install it?

it is an octopus recirc 150 and yes it is brand new. it has been running for almost 48 hours now. i am new at this but by flow rate do you mean the water height in the skimmer or the amount of water moving through the sump?

It can take a few days for the acrylic to slime over thus stopping/slowing the bubbles. Give it some time... it's also recommended to rinse new skimmers in warm water to loosen up some of the oil - for future reference.

I had microbubbles only for a short time after adding the crispy new micron sock. I just added the old, washed micron sock to the skimmer output (gate valve mod), and removed it several hours later. Bubbles disappeared.
