Protein skimmer external recirc pump Question?

Is their a external recirc pump for a DIY skimmer that makes a good foam that does not have to be submerged in the sump? Thanks for any help in advance!:)

Octopus, Gen-x, Sedra and Eheim can all be run in this manner. I'm sure there are others as well.

So it is ok to run the Sedra's 9000 out of the water IE. air cooled?

Yes - Euroreef used to use them. They recently switched to the Eheim. You can buy a moded Sedra 9000 from Euroreef for around 2 bills.

Thanks Ted, I am using a 10 inch diam. piece of scd 1120 thin wall PVC about 36 inches tall. going to try three sedra 9000s. Your pics are great. now that is what I call a good friend that would build you that beauty!
