Sea Shells?

Not sure if this is the right place or not but anyway,

Is it safe to put seashells from the beach (not store bought) in a reef tank? Should they be boiled or bleached first? Shells are from Florida, gulf side in case you wanted to know. Thanks all.

I never had the chance to but I would just run them under hot water and scrub them a little bit. Heck I never even seen the ocean. I brought the ocean to me :)
