i have heard that you have to feed clams if they are like one inch. the lfs's display tank has had a small crocea that is about and inch wide and he doesnt feed it anything. it just sits at the sand at the bottom of the tank. would a small crocea be fine in a 12g nano cube with 48 watts pc without me having to feed it? would i have to put it at the top?

Would not be a good idea with that lighting. As for the feeding part you will get conflicting answers. It would not hurt to feed it phytoplankton.

as long as there are nutrients available in the water ( having fish that you feed regularly ) then supplemental feeding isn't required, it doesn't hurt though.
the lighting requirements of clams are discussed in this sticky (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1072234). it is also quite difficult to keep the params stable enough in a nano. not impossible but you have to stay on top of it.
