I am setting up a fuge to hold more water, chaeto and rocks, I was wondering if setting up a DSB in there is a good idea or not?

If you can keep waste from settling in it via preskimming, filter socks, other methods. You dont want all the poop and uneaten food settling. Are you having nitrate problems? If your nitrates are 0 all the time I wouldnt bother.

I think its a good idea.Mine has a 7 inch sand bed but its part of my sump. Not alot of folks have room for a 4 ft sump under there tank.IMO the more water volume you have the better you will be off.

How many inches of Sand is considered to be DSB? Is it ok to put LR on top of it? (not a display tank)

I would put some type of sand bed in it. DSB, SSB, or plenum...
