I have a 24 gallon AquaPod with a canopy. The tank temperature has been fine until now (it's starting to warm up outside). Today I was shocked to see the tank temperature had climbed to 84 when I got home from work. I immediately turned the light off and put a fan directly onto the tank.

My question is other than leaving a big fan pointed at the tank all summer, is there such a thing as a tank cooler? Thanks.

this may work in your case

they are designed for small tanks, and is the cheapest chiller available other than fans. the next step would be a full out chiller. which would need some plumbing done, and are very expensive.

Stability is more important than value. Bring it down slowly.

Man you're right, full on chillers are quite expensive... I've been pricing them today.

I emailed Marine Depot and they basically said that they don't think an Ice Probe would cut it in my 24 gallon, that they are more for 10 gallon nano tanks. What do you think?

Any other suggestions? I'm really not looking forward to buying a chiller.

it claims a 6-8ºF drop in 10g. you dont need but a 2-3º drop so it probably would do that in a 20g. its one of those things i dont have any experience with that product, and its kind of an expensive experiment :).

i just remembered NanoTuners. they have a Chill Assist thats for the Aquapod 24 http://www.nanotuners.com/product_info.php?cPath=34&products_id=290

that should do the trick and its cheaper than the one at MD.

Someone was saying they thought I should replace the stock pump with something lower wattage first and see if that made a difference. They recommended the Maxi-Jet 900. What do you think?

I am having the same problem with my 29g biocube....the temps in Chicago are starting to heat up -- a chiller is kinda out of the budget right now...
