Hello...

I have filled up my 55 gallon tank with salt water as well as live rock. I am using a sump for filtration. My question deals with the lighting. I have the original canopy that holds 2 flourescent lights. What would be the best type to use during the cycling stage? I am saving up and looking for a deal on some better lights (VHO or MH), but until then I am gong to use the flourescent.

Thanks,
Bryan N.

for cycling it it really doesn't matter. You just need circulation and temp for the cycle. The lights are a for coral growth and looking at the tank.

Check with Aquaman2000 he has a couple of Aqua Medics Ocean Light T that have an aluminum housing with two 250 Watt Double End HQI MH sockets and two 54 watt T5 VHO sockets. They don't have the ballasts but after you find those you'll still save over half from buying the same new.

You probably couldn't put a better light system over a 55. I just picked up one for a 90 gal. I was going to put it over a 55 though.
