I have a hi-fin goby in my 12 gal tank with a candy stripe pistol. I was recently reading an article saying that they are rarely found without a mate, and was left wondering if I should get another one. the only way I can think of to do this would be to find out the sex of the one I have. Anyone know how to do this? And if I did do it, would it be advisable to get another pistol to pair up with the one I have?

can't define sex....no apparent differences betwen male & female

you only have 12 gallon, pistol shrimp dig very expansive tunnels that will be throughout your aquarium. putting another one in will crowd the original one and you will eventuall have one.

i think what you read was the fish are found in pairs, not the shrimp
