I work at wesley medical center. Use to be a saltwater club in h'burg sort of fizzled out. Know any places other than crystal reef to get corals and fish? I order quite a bit online, selection local not very good and sometime not very healthy.

I live in Starkville, this area is the Sahara desert of salt water/reef stores. I usually have to go to B'ham or Jackson to find anything. The Jungle in Jackson is an really good store. Especially when he gets a new shipment in. The owners name is Justin, he's very knowledgeable. Reasonable pricing, if it's too expensive and it's able to be fragged he'll usually frag it for you.

I haven't been to any stores in jackson. We had a store here in hburg, but unfortunately it just closed down.

For anyone who is interested there is a mississippi reef club now... its at msreefclub.com.

I'll have to check out the mobile one for sure. Age, do ya'll do frag swaps often?

I'm in Jackson... Kind of tired of the LFS's here... I'm hopeful that the new owners of the Fish Bowl will revive it. What happened to Bill at Crystal Reef?

I heard that he had a chiller go out or something that set him back... Was that the final nail? I just wonder why he went under... Keep in mind I hadn't been in there since I left Hattiesburg in 2006...

Marshall1385
05/28/2011, 01:43 PM
He had his chiller go out then a big pump and last the ac. He was tellin me the rising gas costs and customers ordering online took a big hit too.

Haven't in a while, but I'm about to I believe... About to do away with the 30 gallon reef and move it all to my 100 gallon reef, so I suspect I'll be fragging quite a bit and have alot left over. You? Send me a PM if you want and we can text or something... It will be quicker!

post an add on craigslist in the pet section ! it worked for me when we just moved a few months ago . theres lots of people that dont get into it enough to get on here everyday . i found a whole club in my area , and have only seen three of them on here . start a new club !!! make it bad *** !!! cause its tough to tell your wife about 2 part dosing and ph swings .......without getting a shut the #$&* up in return :) (in my humble opinion)

He's the only person I know of that carries corals on the coast, typically a great selection with better pricing than the net. There is also a pretty cool reef shop right by the Airport in Kenner, LA in like a warehouse district. Do you know of any others from Mobile to NOLA?

Check him out on twitter @justfishbiloxi

He's on Pass road in Biloxi in a small blue building on the south side of the road between the V.A. and Keesler Gate 7.

Gerwin and his son Roger run the store, they always have a great selection of corals and fish. But it's best to follow on twitter and show up on shipment days. Corals are typically Tuesdays and fish on Thursday.

The coral tank is typically pretty full. The forum for the store is www.fishystuff.net

And no I'm not affiliated with them or anything, lol. Just a loyal customer. They have helped me so much in this hobby. Great people!

Your tank is awesome, are those AOL SOL? Where did you get your turf scrubber, I need one of those on tank. What's the saints bucket for? How do you control your dosing pumps? I love your landscaping. I have the evolution 20g LEDs. Wanted the AOL's but money didn't allow. If u don't mine how much was the turf scrubber? And do u like it?

ariel47

Thank you for the compliments. Building this tank has been a dream come true.. though I can already see how it could be bigger! (mostly front to back, my next setup is going to be at least 3 feet front to back.

I was running 5 AI Sol Blues, but it was overkill so I stole one to put over my 30g mantis tank. So now I'm running 4 in a unique pattern, working GREAT.

The algae scrubber is a Santamonica100, and it's freaking AWESOME. Can handle 5 cubes a day after cleaning and 10 cubes a day towards the end of the week when before harvesting. They are $649 and can be ordered at www.santa-monica.cc Or you can get the exact plans for free and diy one. There are also hundreds of designs and discussions about algae scrubbers at algaescrubber dot net

My entire system including my dosing pumps are controlled via a Neptune Apex controller. I love that thing.

The saints bucket is part of an experiment for auto water change system. I'm planning on pulling 2 gallons a day out via my skimmer into that bucket. The plumbing on the bottom will drain back into the sump in case the skimmer goes nuts. At the 2 gallon point in the bucket a float switch tells my apex to email me and I can remotely drain the bucket or not if there seems to be a problem, like it skimmed too much too fast. Then I am using a 50ml/minute dosing pump to slowly dose saltwater back into the system. And I can monitor it all remotely on my phone. The conductivity module lets me keep a pretty close eye on salinity levels.
