I found this retrofit system online for T5 that seems like it would be pretty easy to either mount onto an Eclipse 12 underneath the hood or to mount into the hood itself. The Eclipse 12 is 21" wide, so the 9w 18" kits would be just about perfect.

I'm not planning on SPS or anything too light hungry, but would like some LPS from the euphyllia family. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 13w Compact Fluorescent fixture in the Eclipse is too weak for euphyllia. I've got a 10k/Actinic 50/50 bulb in the fixture right now and it's really not a lot of light.

What would you think about supplementing the CF fixture with these T5 retros? I was thinking that if I got two T5 retros at 10k and switched the CF to an actinic bulb that might be enough light for what I want to have...or am I horribly mistaken?

Also, if anyone has any ideas that would fit on a the Eclipse 12's goofiness, I'm open to suggestions. I'd like to keep the upgrade cheap though (I know, I know, you get what you pay for...but currently I'm paying for college :))

Thanks in advance!

I would go with 3 of the t5's and your 13 W compact.

I found this fixture that might also work...seems like a better option to have 40w as opposed to 27. I'll have to do some more serious measuring to see if I can get this stuff to fit under the hood (that or cut the acrylic cover I've been contemplating for the past couple weeks.)
