please validate that i am correct in this id. what type of color variations are there? should i expect this varity to color up more under >150MH lighting?

Doesn't really look like A. velida to me.

Wow, that looks a lot like one of my tricolors when I first bought it. Mine has been finicky at times....likes lots of light and a decent amount of flow:
