Anyone have an extra one? Need both a needle valve and bubble counter, would prefer one with both built into one.

Not to derail your purpose of this thread, but i have now gone to a ph controller to regulate the C02. I am so happy I can't believe I didnt do this sooner. I literally do nothing with my calcium reactor but look at it once in a while. The ph controller decides how much C02 should be injected, so so much better than counting bubbles. Also i notice my effluent rate is rock solid now, used to vary day to day maybe due to the constant C02 causing the pump to slightly cavitate? Who know's
All i wanted to do is bring it to light for you.
I got a Milwaukee ph controller from Custom Aquatic for less than a hundred i think. They have it on special right now i think.

Chris, so the pH controlled will just dump a bunch of CO2 in at once? How should it be setup? Have any pics?

Huhhhhh

Chris was explaining to me how that works and if I remember right the ph controler turns on and off the co2 to keep it always at the same level. Don't know if I explained it right but it sounded like a really good way of doing it vs bubble counting.

I was thinking about doing a reactor myself and if I do, I'll do the same thing with the ph controller.

Im going to do the one i have the same way but im going to still have the valve and bubble counter on my CO2 tank for back up

Chris has CaRx that has a fitting to accomodate a Ph probe in his primary reactor. I can not do that with mine. I have to monitor the tank Ph with my controller. Its set to shut off the CO2 when tank Ph hits 7.8. Either way, I honestly believe that to have a Ph controller (not monitor) is a must when running a CaRx.

Thanks Russ, would I still need the needle valve and or bubble counter with the pH controller? I don't currently have a reactor with a fitting for a pH probe, but I'm sure I could build it... Anyone have a pic of the connection?

I would suggest getting a needle valve and a bubble counter. Might as well just get a complete CO2 regulator with a solenoid. I use a JBJ regulator. It came with everything. Milwaukee and GenX make decent ones too.

So do you want them calvin415

I've got the regulator and solenoid but it doesn't have the needle valve or bubble counter... :(

Lin, if I could try them out it would be great. :D

Thanks Lin, if you can PM me your address, I'll try to swing by after work tomorrow... Got your VM, but just finished my Dad's tank and it's now starting it's fill. :D Should be done in about 3 days. LOL!

Looks like it will, it's very sensitive, but I think it should do.

Sorry I was I vegas last 2 days I didnt get to your post eric. I'll take a picture of the fitting, I imagine you can get one somewhere locally, its a compression bulkhead.
I set the C02 to flow pretty high, like a steady stream of large bubbles, it works great and has kept my ph higher now.

The biggest thing is it made the effluent output much steadier, and it truly disolves the calcium at the optimum rate instead of using the C02 to just control the tank ph.

Must be nice to just take off and go to Vegas like that. Did you win or donate a new buiding?
