Is there an auto-shutoff waste collector that I can use with the foam extraction unit? I am looking for something similar to the following:
http://www.precisionmarine.com/html/waste_collectors.html
http://www.proteinskimmer.com/accessories.htm
http://ozreef.org/diy_plans/protein_skimmers/automatic_shut_off_waste_collection.html

I'm concerned mainly with the fit between the skimmer hose and the collector inlet.
Thanks!

The outlet is 1" PVC so likely you could fit one of those could be fitted.

We recommend the 27L reservoir we sell and our hose set. If the hose is place almost to the bottom of the bucket, as skimmate stacks up it places back pressure on the foam and skimming stops.

My skimmer is on a platform. How far up the hose (or down the hose) must the skimmate level rise in order to build enough back pressure to shut off the skimming? Must the collector be up to the "blue line?"

I have not done this myself and have no first hand experience. I don't really think the height of the collector would matter as it is just the backpressure on the hose. The air cannot escape and presses the foam down. I would test it. The results should be obvious pretty quickly. If I had to guess I would suspect 3-4" of skimmate would block skimming.
