i bought a bucket of reef crystals and tested my first batch of new saltwater. the calcium was 300. i tested some reef crystals from my old bucket and it was between 400 and 450. i double tested my new bucket and still, its low. i have not tested any other parameters yet.

what are my options? would you like my order #? i would very much like a different bucket.

on the other hand, the speed of shipping was amazing. it was basically over night for me! and i paid for the slowest shipping. simply amazed me!

Chad,

Thank you for your patience. We have tried to contact you regarding this matter and have left a message for you to contact us at your earliest convenience. The calcium level is directly affected by the specific gravity of the salt when fully mixed and aerated for at least 24 hours. Having a specific gravity of 1.026 (natural seawater) the calcium level should be right around 440mg/l. If your mixed salt water does not reflect these conditions we can send you new bucket of salt at no cost to you, and a return label for the salt to be sent back to us so we may have the salt tested by the manufacture for any inconsistencies in the mix.

Hi I would like to post my experience regarding this salt, I first tried Reef Crystals 160 Gallon bucket (bought from DFS if it matters) it had Calcium about 325PPM, at 1.026 SG. I tested with Seachem test kit and also Instant ocean test kit just to convince myself. I also tested with reference solution to make sure the kit is working.... I asked on Reef Central and everyone says theirs range from 380-440.. I have never purchased another bucket of Reef Crystals again because of this.. Although the price is very attractive..
switched to Tropic Marin Pro Reef and Ca has been 380-400 for me. Hopefully DFS or Reef Crystals can look into this issue.
