I will want to keep mostly soft and lps...Definitely not sps, so which one would you choose and please keep in mind I have no interest in halides.

I feel that's a bit low on the lumens T5 might be a better deal, but if you kept things off the sand and up higher you might be fine. Let's see if someone else weighs in. I added MH's even without sps (and of course got some sps as soon as I did!)

i would go with t5's they last longer are cheaper to replace, run cooler, have more bulb choices, but i myself would go with the 8 bulb unit, or you could buy a aquatinics or tek unit, that have the same output but with less bulbs.

Thanks for the input. I would go with the 8 but my tank is only 13 wide and the 8 is 15".

I would go with either Tek or Aquactinics instead of Nova Extreme. They both have individual parabolic reflectors. I prefer the Aquactinics unit as it have build in fans to cool the bulb.

i agree

pc is on its way out t5 with reflectors is soo much better
