coralVue T5 retro kit

Was wondering the dimensions of the CoralVue 36" T5 retro kit? It hsows the ballast connected to the endcaps/reflector, and I am not sure if that or the TEK retro is the better fit inside my canopy.

Hi,
CoralVue's dual 36" T5 retro kit is 35.5" L x 4 7/8 W x 3.5" H.
Ballast is built into the back frame of the fixture and it comes fully pre-wired. There are no exposed wires on these units.

So if I have a wood canopy, and want to keep the bulkiness outside of it, I should probably go with the TEK retro so I can have the ballast on the top of the canopy or hanging on the wall near it? Is there any issue with the heat on those ballasts? Can you tell what the shipping is in chicagoland, I would of course want 2 bulbs. BTW, the bulkheads and food I got from you have worked out great.

Like most ballasts there is some heat involved, so it would be better to keep them outside of the canopy.
