View Full Version : hydor flo in in all in one

I have a aquapod12 and just purchased my maxi jet 900 and a hydor flo. With the maxi jet going there is a whirlpool effect and everthing is really getting tossed around. I added the hydor flo and the directional motion is cool for wave simulation, I am afraid it has cut down on the flow. What is the appropriate amount? I know more is better but beating down the xenia or just jostling it once every 10 seconds.

I usually recommend at least 20x flow in any reef tank. Nano's are tough since you are working in tight spaces. Your MJ900 by itself is about 20x. The hydor will cut down on the flow somewhat. I would monitor your corals and see how they react with the hydor and without. If they are stressed then take action. If this makes you feel any better, my xenia is in 30x flow and loving it. :)

thats how the xenia looked with the Y line on but now with the hydor they are just getting hit every few seconds and its nothing dramatic like that.
