You should be able to special order a short A250-2x1260. What I've read is the extra body diameter gives it better control and performance.

You need to request the custom short order through an authorized H&S dealer. What country are you located in?

The dealer that I ordered my A150 from was telling me that he has custom ordered 26.5"-27" short A250s for his customers and have had excellent results as H&S Germany rebalances the pump to the shorter skimmer body. It is possible that the skimming might be on the wetter side.

Just in case you want to discuss with the authorized dealer that I purchased my skimmer from about the short A250s, his webpage is:

I have purchased an custom H&S skimmer to be sized down to fit in my stand. The comp. above was great to work with and frequently contacted me with updates. Great people to work with.

Can you get a custom tall one... dual eheim 1260s on an 8" diameter skimmer that is 48" tall?

I have a custom A200 1x1260 and love it. I would imagine a shortened A250 would rock. But I would NOT shorten a A200 2x1260. I used to run that skimmer and loved it, one of my favorite all-timers. I also owned the A300 3x1260, a true beast.

I believe it is true that H&S doesn't just "shorten" it - they make some guesstimates on changing neck heights, pump placement, etc. You can shorten a skimmer in areas other than just the main body. I ordered mine directly from Brian @ Finsreef and we had discussions as to where it should be cut - how it would be modifed, etc - and in the end I just said "Let them do what they do & give me the best ~25" A200 1x1260 they can". The result was an amazing skimmer for me. Very well spent fifty bucks.

I think Hahn is wanting a 48" tall 8" diameter skimmer instead of the standard 30"-32" for the old A200-2x1260 skimmer.
