Ferry from Florida to Bahamas??

This is off topic a little, but relates to snorkeling and I know a lot of you here are from Florida. My girlfriend refuses to fly due to a bad incident flying years ago. I really want to do some snorkeling on a little R&R time off. Anyway I first thought it would be cool to drive down to Key West and get on one of the tours there but then my girlfriend tells me that a friend from her work went to the bahamas from florida on a Ferry that leaves from some place in Florida and drops you off in Grand Bahama or something like that. Is that true?

yes it is true, I know someone on the liveaboard I was on 2 weeks ago did that. she said it was fun with food and drinks included. $100 something dollars. but I don't know any more.

I heard there was a cat ferry that went from Ft. Lauderdale but it is temporary shutdown for some reason but that was back in 2004 that the articles stating it was shutdown were posted.

That is a cruise that takes you there but they make you come back the same day no?
