I'm setting up a glass tank that had some horrid center braces.

I took them out and am attempting to make it a braceless tank.

I am planning on building a trim ring out of 1" square steel. Two rings welded together to make one stronger ring. The ring would then be siliconed onto the top of the tank.

Here is a sketch I threw together.

The deminsions of the tank are 8'L x 3'D x 2'H

Thanks

no way, skip the steel. use eurobracing on the inside. a piece of steel that length will still have flex to it, a piece of glass 3'' wide and the same thickness of the tank glass won't have any flex to it.

thanks for the reply. I had also thought about eurobracing.

My 375 has no center braces, just uro around the edges.

or you could make the whole thing out of laminated like 2" thick and go totally rimless!!! LOL :) Pricey but would look cool.
