I recently aclimated a sea hare to my tank and after a couple days of doing an AMAZING job of eating hair algae i woke up to him sucked to the power head. i pulled the guard off the bottom and cut the plast around him to release him but his side and back are all messed up from being sucked for, I don't know how long. Will he survive through this? is there anything I can do to help him recover? Right now I have him secluded under a glass jar in my tank b/c the cleaner shrimp was eating his wound, my clown kept biting him and i was scared my nassarius or hermit would feast on him while i was at work. thanks for the help!

If he can have some peace and quiet, he may heal. Not with those kind of predators around, though.

Oh, he will need food, of course.

Sea hare ink is not toxic it is just a smoke screen to get away from predators. I have kept several types of aplysia and dolabrifera sp and the inevitable accident with my tunze has happened a few times. My whole tank has turned light purple from the ink and nothing happened. This has happened at least 5-6 times over the years.
Most sea hares will stop producing red ink entirely after a few weeks if they don't have red macro algae to feed on.

If your guy isn't damaged too badly hares have very good reparative abilities.
