I have a 29g and am going to set up a T-5 retrofit kit and wonder how many watts I should go for? I think the tank dimensions are 36Lx12Wx19H.

Thanks.

the tank dimensions are 30"l x12"w x 18"t
i would look at reefgeek.com at their sunlight supply, or icecap retrofit systems. A 4-24watt system would probaby be all you could fit over it.

I have 2X24 on my 29g softy/lps tank with Icecap reflectors. If you go with Icecap reflectors I'd go with no more than 3 on there. Each reflector is 3" wide so 4 is exactly 12". The 4th bulb would be sitting directly over the overflows and wouldn't get the full benefit from the 4th. Plus that would also mean the 1st bulb is crammed up to the very front which won't be as effective.

A standard 29g is only 30"L.

Do you think a 2x24 system would be enough for a tank of mostly zoos, shrooms, and other softies or should I go for 4x24?

if you have individual reflectors 2 bulbs would be plenty you could even have monti caps and any lps corals.
