Anyone using giesemann fixture/bulb specially for sps? About performance vs other popular compagnies? Because I don't see a lot of people using them on this forum...

thanks!

I'm in the financial saving phase of "Operation Get the Giesemann Infinity Even if You Have to Sell Your Soul". What concerns me is that Giesemann North America is located in Canada; I am not. Should I have an electrical issue of any kind, I could most likely repair it myself, but the thought of having to send a 72 inch, $2,400 fixture to Canada for repairs doesn't tickle my fancy. I spoke to Luke at PA with regards to this and he has assured me that they will do what they can to help with any issues. That is a kind jesture, but still doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy. I may have to sell my current lighting to finance this, so no backup lighting for me...

I have yet to hear of a user on rc either.
My 150w DE 20k megachrome blue is due in tomorrow!!! I bought it for a softie tank tho...

I used the 13,5K lamps on an HQI ballast and didn't care for them - the color rendition was pretty flat to my eye. That being said, my dream fixture is either a Giesemann or a Sfiligoi.

I've got a Geismann nova 250w DE pendant, and frankly, the Reef Optix III pendant, and Aqaumedic pendants I've dealt with, spank it quite badly.

Reflector is poor, changing bulbs is almost impossible (and requires a screwdriver...WTH?), and the ballast is loud when it starts up. Its also the 3rd (I believe) ballast i've been through.

That's good to know RichConley. I also been reading up on the Giesemann and Sfiligoi lighting systems. I been debating on whether to stay 150w or jump to 250w. But when I ask I always get 10 different answers. Some even say 400w...my head hurts and eyballs burning from all the reading. My Elos tank is 48x20x20 with mainly SPS under dual 150w and 4-39w actincs currently. So far I been looking at the Giesemann Infinity like Old Salty and the Sfiligoi Infinity like Naka's.

ROIII is an unfair comparison. The Giesmann system has a more even light spread but far less intencity. not that anything has the intensity of an ROIII in it's hot spot.

I also run 3 nova 2 pendants. Gorgeous pendants, however performance is pretty poor. Rich, does your ballast make an insane rumbling sound upon starting up as well? Sounds very similar to a gigantic robot gargling.

Nuuze, if you have an Elos tank, then I know you're probably looking for something with aesthetics as well as performance. I would look into the Sfiligois or perhaps even the silver colored AquaMedic Ocean Light pendants. Just removed the tacky aquamedic sticker. They are priced very reasonably as well, I think about half the price of the Nova IIs.

Thanks Project Reef! I'll read up on the AquaMedic's. So far the Sfiligoi with ACLS is one of the only dimmable systems out there.

old salty,

You better jump on one of these quick!

The Sfiligoi Infinity 250w and 400w is still cheaper than the dual 250w Giesemann Infinity.

Thanks, but I would need a 3 X 250 for my tank. Nice find, though!!

In case you change your mind I read that the Infinity XR4 reflects uniform light output on a surface of 90X70 cm on each halide/reflector. Thats 35.43x27.56 inches.
