My live rock has been cured for about 3 wks now. The display is not ready, I have a bit more plumbing left. My question is what should I do to insure the rock will remain alive. LFS suggested that I put some damsels in the curing vat until I am ready to transfer. I asked them because by the time I am ready to transfer the rock will have been ready for 4-5 wks. What do you guys think.

I think it will be fine without any damsels, If you want to "feed" your live rock you could just drop some fish food in there. I would add a light to prevent losing its color.

you could do that, you can also add small amounts of pure ammonia or even dead shrimp to keep the nitrogen cycle going.

LFS said they would give me back 1/2 the money for fish when done. I guess they are trying to make a buck.

The problem with the damsels is that they might carry diseases with them. A tiny bit of fish food is a good idea. I also feed phytoplankton to my systems to keep various filter feeders alive, and serve as the bottom of a food chain that includes copepods and other small animals.
