View Full Version : Turned my Pinto into a Ferrari!

Here is some pics of my old barely recognizable RO/DI unit. I just bought the new MaxCap D2 DI system from www.thatfishplace.com they were having a 30% off sale today so I got the D2 for 77 bucks!

Also replaced the sediment filter and carbon blocks with 0.5 micron spectrapure filters. The membrane was replaced like a year ago with a real one made by DOW, it's a 75GPD membrane.

Here are some pics of my set up, notice the 44g brute. That is my topoff reservoir, I mix a cup of Kalk in that each time I fill it up. There is a float valve and shutoff valve right behind the tank, so I can turn it on and leave it, once the brute is full I shut the valve off to the DI. So I only run the RODI unit in long bursts. That yellow box is my IKS peri pump, it is controlled by my ACIII DC8 and a float switch in the sump wired to the ACIII. Topp-off for me is turning that valve on every 3 weeks or so and adding a cup of kalk :D.

Thanks cc,

I have one comment so far about the MC D2, I wish it would have been built on a metal frame, it is made of plastic and is very flimsy compared to the FD frame.

Besides that, I'm currently making some seriously pure water!

I think SpectraPure sells those frames on their website for around $20, but don't quote me on that.

Thanks again cc! I will have to pick me up one of those.

Yes David, that is an IKS peri pump. I love it, it has never given me a moments trouble in 2 years of 24/7 service.
