Bleaching dead corals?

Hello All,

I am going to start taking care of the tank at my office. It is a 150 Gal fish only tank. It has some rock and some dead coral.

Can you guys help me with how to keep the corals white? I know you bleach them. I figure you take some bleach and water in a spray bottle. Spray them and let them sit for a few minutes. Then rinse them throughly with fresh water.
What do you guys do?

Soak in a > or = 10% bleach solution overnight. Soak in changes of fresh water. Add dechlorinator for good measure. Voila! Bright white corals. Used to do it in my first FO tank many years ago. Never had a problem

I basically did what SDguy describes plus I used to scrub the rocks with a stiff brush first. I also "overdosed" with the declorinator just in case. As long as you rinse well as the last step, you should be fine.

I can honestly tell you though, I do NOT miss the days when I had to do that in my fish-only tank!

Also you can sit the pieces out in the sun on the grass after bleaching and rinsing them.
