Looks like a Cerith snail.

If that's the case, then he's a good guy. He'll eat your algae off rocks, sand, and glass.

everyone says "rocks, sand, and glass" but my ceriths never leave the rocks unless they fall off... then they just crawl back on the rocks

Ceriths are a great snail and breed quite easily, my ten have grown to over a hundred in a very short time. I'll be taking most to the LFS for credit.
