How do I know if a magnet is saltwater safe, other than not having any metal?

I want to glue some magnets to a few frags and place them on my back glass. Has anyone done this or have any suggestions?

Thanks

i think you'll be hard pressed to find not metallic magnets. since they dont really exist (yes i know they kinda do) i think soem have a wax coatign on them, and ive heard that iron oxide isnt really toxic to reef tanks. anybody smarter have something to say?

Check the DIY forum.

You'll need to encase the magnets in plastic to prevent corrosion.

probably, my pump has magnets, but they're very well sealed up

there are magnets available to clean your glass. Mag-Float and Hagen are a couple. i've glued powerheads to them before, makes it easy to get the powerhead exactly where you want it.

I may be wrong but I think ceramic magnets(ferrite) are the kind that are in a maxijet. You know that magnet it exposed to saltwater and doesn't rust. Since it is a non conductive ceramic magnet.

What wiki says

There is a place that already sells stuff like this. It might be worth looking into. http://www.aqua-mags.com/about.php

ok, i did this with my GSP's and got them growing on the glass, if you have an x-tra mag-float around just put a piece in between them. it will work

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I will just order some from the link, if it checks out.

Those Aqua-mags are awsome. We've got some at the store I work at and they are pretty stinkin' cool. We use the large ones on our 220 gal display tank.
