Puffer Owners

OK I just purchased a dog face puffer from a fellow reefer. I have been feeding him freeze dried krill with my plastic tongs. He will not swim up to my hand yet. My question is what does everyone feed their puffers? I have snalis and hermits in the tank the puffer is in so I assume if he gets hungry he will munch on them. Does anyone feed live food? If so what do you feed? Thanks for any suggestions.

small snails and hermits of couse are included in the live diet. crabs are as well.

do not feed a staple diet of freeze dried stuff. instead feed a staple diet of frozen krill. you can also use grocery frozens like mussels or scallop (with shell on)

i had a dogface for quite some time and i did feed live bait gulf shrimp fun to watch him chase em als o not recomended freshwater goldfish fun too worms crickets prety much anything that moved he ate also frozen shrimp squid fish ya know i cant think of one thing he didnt eat including my finger,arm,almost got my face to but im quick and just bumped my head.

and yes snails hermits coral crabs will most likely be a nice snack soon good luck there alot of fun and if tamed you can hold tham and pet them.
