How did it come out?
I hope you tried some without the shells, it looks better IMO.
It also comes out better when mixed on the dry side.
I whish you would have came over last week I could have given you some good ideas.
I am going to try to get a pastry bag (cake decorating) and do a build up rock like the one I talked to you about.

If you have a deep box and alot of sand that is easy to do. It looks like he used come real dry coral in some spots.
Ted you can come over anytime after Monday. If you want to come over on Thursday I will even make some with you. I just made 2 flat rocks today. I am looking for a commercial pastry bag if you know anyone in the bakery field. I think I could make a rock like we talked about in my gallery.
I will be leaving at 3 am and be back around 9am monday. you can call me.

The rock in those pics looked great. I like the idea of using some coral skeleton in it as well.
I have several pieces of old coral - rubble that I used to use for frags (time permitting) - I will set them aside for you if you like
I prob. won't be at any meetings until July or Aug but I can send these with somebody if you are interested. Diane and BankerJohn have been nice enough to take frags down for me before (my frags have been to more meetings than I have :(

the first three are right out of the mold
the last is after a 1 hout soak to get the surface salt out to see texture.
I found a tile grout bag that is the same as a pastry bag at home depot. I think if I make the mixture thin enough to squeese through I can make that rock we talked about. I will try tonight.

also if you mix in half the salt in the begining of mixing it breaks down into smaller holes.

Sunkool,
That DIY rock looks nice. If I ever setup another tank, I will have to try to make some. Keep up the good work.

Here is an idea (it is not mine) for the DIY Rock. Take frag plus and wrap in plastic then insert into the wet slurry during the forming process of the rock. Once hardened, remove the frag plugs and there will be holes ready for accepting frags on the frag plugs.
