They are usually a forgiving and easy type of coral. I have had them survive on live rock that has been without light for over a month. They don't seem to concerned over nitrate levels either.

ooh thats awesome! do they need any kind of additives? like calcium and stuff like that or will they do fine in just your regual water?

For the most part no special additives are needed, just the usual of checking and maintaining pH, ALK, salinity, temp.

U might want to check out reefermadness first before you go to your lfs so you have an idea of the price. RM have nice selection too.

zoos are nice, and the easiest I think. All I do is put them in and watch them multiply. it's kinda cool when you get just one polyp and see it actually multiply. cool stuff. also a lot of zoas are pricey making it more fun to have and see multiply, it's like investing. hehehe

esp when you buy a few polyps, they multiply, and then you frag them and sell them in order to afford more. kinda compounds them just from having a begining frag

that sounds awesome how fast do they multiply?

Ive never notice anything amazing aout growth rate. I hear that they grow fast, but what exactly is fast? I'm wondering this also. I have several colors in my tank, I notice a few new polyps here and there over the last two months or so, maybe three months.

What strong lighting do zoas need?

When I started my SW tank (10 Gallon) all I had were regular fluorecent lighting and they thrived in that tank. Since I have moved them to my 14 gal Bio, they are growing like crazy. I have 6 different kinds of zoas and they all multiply at different rates it seems.

zoos are great i have a bunch also but you really need to watch out for the nudibranchs....they look like a slug with spikes and they eat your soos. they also turn the color of the zoo that they are eating....they lay eggs on your zoos. they look like tiny white spots in a circle attached to the side .... i have found 3 of these ugly little things on mine in the last 4 days.
