I just got my nova extreme.. i'm wondering now should i buy new bulbs to put it.. the ones that came was 2x39w t5ho 10000k daylight, 2x39w t5ho slimpaq-460nm actinics. whats your opinion? would i be able to keep a few clams with this lighting?

Yes you probably can keep most clams with this light. Does it have individual reflectors for each bulb? If you don't then it won't be as powerful as T-5's can be, but it will still be good for a 29 gal. I still think though that you'll be able to keep a crocea if you wanted.

ok thats great to hear.. no it doesn't have the individual reflectors.. i was going to purchase some but they look awful big and spacey.. so i'm curious as to what step to take now..

What are your options? I'm sure it will be fine.

I have the same light as you, and the same bulbs. I have it on a 46 gallon bow front. I've been able to keep anemones with success over the last year, and a friend has the same lights and his clams are doing well. Neither one of us has individual reflectors.

The tank actually looks brighter than this picture.

I just put the nova extreme on my 46gal bow and I am pretty impressed. That is even after switching it out with 192watt PC fixture. The tank looks much more crisper with the t-5's

very nice, Do you have much problem with the light being thrown outwards around the tank?

I'm glad you like the light fixture! It is very crisp.

The 4x39 watt nova extreme fixture is VERY nice for the money. The bulbs it comes with are fine. The picture above either didn't have the white back set on his camera settings or he changed the bulbs around. The bulbs it comes with make it a nice crisp blue/white color. I have kept a derasa clam on the sand bed of a 46 gallon and a crocea mid tank on a rock along with SPS on top and other corals on the bottom. They are bright and will definately work fine on a 29 gallon if that is what you are going to use it for.

I'm not sure if you're asking me, but the fixture came with 460nm actinics.

It sort of lights up the area behind the tank. Make no mistake, the lights are bright. But I like them a lot. The rock has not even been in a week yet, but the corals seems to like it nicely.

Oh ok.. i figured out how you did it.. i was confused at first.. cos when the lights came.. for each lighting section u had to cut on a antinic and white light came on.. I must admit the blue lighting is real neat.. i like the way the corals just glow in it.. and when all the lights are on.. you can see the corals opening up and thriving for the light..
