My quarantine tank is up and running and ready for my next purchases. In the 29g tank I have a heater set to 78, maxijet 1200, a HOB aquaclear 50 for filtration, and 3 pieces of PVC at the bottom. I plan to purchase a royal gramma and a yellow watchman goby this weekend. My questions -

1. Are they safe to quarantine together?
2. Will the goby be ok without sand for 4 weeks?
3. What should the salinity be set to in the tank for the 4 weeks?

Thanks!

You will be fine if the goby eats. Some will and some wont. I'd give him a good three or four days in QT to see if you can get him to eat. Try different foods... including fresh chopped molusks (mussels especially tasty... can't imagine why). You could also try flying fish roe... some have reported success.

Make sure you have the top covered... gobies will work their way out of a tank given .001% of a chance.

Thanks. What about the salinity, should it be set for hypo?
