So I've got a 75g with a 29g sump. I have a couple problems. First I have a ton of microbubbles because I had to take the baffles out of my sump because the aquarium sealant wasn't holding. Second, I have some cyano buildup (tank still cycling) and I read that more flow will get rid of the air bubbles. How do I add more flow to dead spots (under ledges ect.) without blowing my live sand around? I'm having to syphon air out of my overflow every day because of micro/cyano bubbles and it sucks. Suggestions?

Put simply: 20x + turnover rate - powerheads

You need the baffles in the sump to keep the micro bubbles out of the display... I'll get you a link on another way of attaching them.

I have 2 maxi jet 1200 (295gph), 1 powerhead that is rated for 800 gph, and my sump pump is HH980gph but i have it fixed for 1/2 the power. So I have about 25x. Why am I still getting cyano bubbles?

I just posted in this other thread about my experience with this - I'm not saying it won't work - I'm just saying it didn't work for me :)

First. Flow through the sump should be about 3-5 times the system volume. This will help with the microbubbles. The remaining flow should be made up with powerheads or a closed loop. Also buying a pump along the lines of tunze or korila will go a long way as it disperses water in a large cone, rather than a jet like the maxis.

So onto the problem... First are you sure that it's cyno? When you mention bubbles it opens my mind up to thinking that it could be cyno or dinos.

If it is cyno, you may have to resort to something along the lines of red slime remover, plus poly pads, water changes and a slight light adjustment.
