Just curious what everyone is feeding their eels? Also what are you using as a cover to keep your eel in the tank?
I just got a zebra moray earlier this week. He was eating crayfish once a week at the LFS. Are crayfish a good diet? Its pretty cool watching him eat.

I feed Silversides as well. 2-3 times a week, with a 16-18 inch Snowflake

Do you just drop the silversides in the tank or do you hand feed your eels?

Zebras are primarily crustatean eaters, so I go to the supermarket and get uncooked shrimp with the shell on and I also feed frozen krill and mysis.

As they are crustatean eaters I feed my eels shrimp, clams and sqiud all from the supermarket. If you don't train them to eat fish by feeding them silversides you will have less of an issue with them trying to eat your smaller fish, if you have any.I have egg crate on the back open part of the canopy to keep them in.

Also get some feeding tongs. Start by holding the food close to where he is(rock,PVC,etc) and slowly train him to come farther out to get the food. After a while he will come to the surface at feeding time or when he is hungry.

I got him to eat a few frozen prawns today. I still need to get some tongs. I had to hand feed him. Thanks for all the great advise guys.

My old Moray (28-30") ate both dead and frozen mummichugs and silver sides, squid, bay scallops and scraps of both chicken and pork with much enthusiasm.
New one 8" eats mysis shrimp, krill and some frozen food concoction called "plankton" but the stuff in it is bigger than either the mysis shrimp or the krill.
