I just want to double check. What chemicals do i need to keep the corals? I thought it was just calcium and alkalinity. I recently heard it was phosphates too. Any advice is appreciated.

Your salt mix should have all the chemicals you need. If you keep up on your husbandry tasks (10% water change every week) you shouldn't have to add anything (unless you have allot of calcium loving corals...sps). Definitly don't add phospahtes (unless you want to grow algae).

no, you probably heard/read that people were adding a phosphate sponge. some people do that once a month for a day or two in order to REMOVE phosphates from their tanks. helps to reduce algae.
