are there any other ways of getting rid of red slime without using chemicles

Flow and nutrient export combined with manual removal are the only ways. Check your TDS on your RO supply and get a phosban reactor to pull PO4 out.

i had a cyano problem for 2 months, i left the light off for 3 full days and almost all went away but a little came back, did it again 2 weeks later and its still gone to this day, been a month.

having said that, now i have a film of algae appear every day or so damn i hate new tanks :mad:

Increase flow, decrease feeding, syphon it out with waterchanges, and keep your parameters and water changes in check.

Make sure no window is shining light on your tank---that's where it will tend to appear. All the causes above are true. The lights-out does work. The 3 days of no lights should be followed by one day of actinic before the halides come on.
