common I would believe. I had a girl come into the LFS and buy two of them. She says she loves them? WOW

Depends entirely on the species. Some basher species only eat small crustaceans. I've had an N. wennerae in my 250g for over two years now. He came in with the LR, and picks off a snail every now and again. Other than that, completely harmless, IME.

Completely agree. Mantises get blamed for a whole lot of things they dont do, like killing fish. Smashers dont kill fish, and you're not going to get a spearer unless you buy one specifically.

thanks all, regardless I am happy to have it out. I'll leave it in my hospital tank. (no chemicals that will kill it in there)
