View Full Version : want to MOD my css 220

hey all, I have read a little about some MODs for different skimmers, but don't see a lot for the CSS 220. I like the mesh mod, and the one with fishing lne, but I am not really sure how to do either correctly. I really don't like the bubble production on my super skimmer 220. (needlewheel) the bubbles are too big and there aren't enough. Any suggestions on what to do, or how to do it? Pictures would be great as well.

Search the DIY forum for pictures.

I have the CSS 125. I did the fishline mod and had a nice performance increase, smaller bubbles and drier foam.

Then I switched the pump to a stronger one (Hydor L40), using the original impeller. Again, a significant improvement.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound curt.

I'd recommend the fishline mod for a simple performance gain. It's quite simple. Just use very thin fishline and go 6-10 wraps around the needlewheel. Try to zig-zag up and down as you wrap it.

Here's a short thread that shows the fishline mod:

Andrew did it with much more fishline than people were suggesting earlier. I may try to add more and see if it helps.
